JP8513/9513 Contemporary Theological Paradigms

This subject is designed to offer students a panoramic overview of contemporary schools of Catholic theology. Particular attention is paid to the methodologies of each of the schools or circles of scholars surveyed, their relationship to one another, and points of dispute and division. The paradigms covered are Thomist, Balthasarian, Rahnerian, Schillebeeckxian, Liberationist, Feminist, Phenomenologist, Radically Orthodox and their derivatives. Students will be equipped with a body of this knowledge which will enable them to undertake professional work in the field and serve as a basis for further learning.
